Environment Artist
Responsibilities:
- Create a wide variety of objects, props, and terrain for uniquely stylized environments
- Create high quality maps and apply them to complex 3D models
- Work with complex shader networks to develop believable looking surfaces including the use of normal mapping
- Generate artwork that fits within a style outlined by the Art Director
- Communicate innovative solutions to technical and artistic problems
- Actively participate in team meetings and critiques
Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of 3DS Max or Maya and its polygon and UV mapping tools.
Understanding of material shaders.
Understanding of basic design concepts such as color theory, form, proportion, and lighting.
A proficiency at fine art skills including drawing, painting, or sculpting.
Game Environment art experience with at least one completed game project.
Work well in a team setting which includes giving and receiving criticism
Strong organizational skills
Industrious work ethic and the ability to work without constant direction
The ability to solve problems and complete work under reasonable deadlines
Work well in a team setting which includes giving and receiving criticism
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively
Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change
Preferred:
A portfolio that demonstrates a history of high quality 3D art and artistic ability over a variety of styles and topics.
Thorough understanding of architecture and nature.
1 year of game environment art experience.
Previous experience with Virtools or Unity3D.
Instructional technology or instructional design experience.
Online teaching and learning experience.
