Interface Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop menus and graphical user interfaces from concept through production.
  • Work with programmers and artists to transition concepts to production assets.
  • Work with programmers to troubleshoot and fix errors.
  • Conceptualize, design and generate ideas for the UI.
  • Mock-up screens and create UI prototypes to demonstrate design concepts.
  • Create and design final 2D art as required for the project.
  • Learn proprietary tools.
  • Work closely with the team to design, create and implement the UI.
  • Work on other art tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience with Flash CS3/4 and ActionScript 3.0.
Strong experience in designing and producing graphical user interfaces & menus.
Experience with developing layout of overall UI display (HUD).
A strong understanding and background of the formal process of human interface design including:  Principles of human interface design, Interactive navigation and controls, Navigation trees and flow charting, Creation of wireframes out of design docs, Icon design.
A strong understanding of how to create a consistent look, feel, and function.
A strong understanding of color, space, and typography.
The ability to clearly communicate and partner with engineering, design, and art team members to implement and iterate on the design vision.
The ability to draft design specifications in the form of documentation, wire-frames/mock-ups, and interactive prototypes.
Work well in a team setting which includes giving and receiving criticism.
Strong organizational skills.
Industrious work ethic and the ability to work without constant direction.
The ability to solve problems and complete work under reasonable deadlines.
Work well in a team setting which includes giving and receiving criticism.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively.
Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change.

Preferred:

A portfolio that demonstrates a history of high quality interface art and artistic ability over a variety of styles and topics.
Thorough understanding of interactivity and usability.
Experience with Flash CS3/4 and ActionScript 3.0.
1 year of game interface development experience.
Previous experience with Virtools or Unity3D.
Instructional technology or instructional design experience.
Online teaching and learning experience.
