Art Director's Newsletter - March 2010
Hello Friends,
Welcome to 2010's first Art Director's Newsletter! 2009 was a crazy and productive year. We had our first Survival Master playtest, finished design work on 4 KSBs, and shifted our focus to the multiplayer shelter design portion. This year has some big things in store as well, so I hope that you'll follow along with us on this journey of ours.
Since the end of 2009, I have been working hard to expand the web presence of Survival Master and have some exciting links to share. First is our new Wordpress blog. With this blog, my goal is to provide a detailed, inside look into the development of a Serious Game. I post meeting notes, artwork, videos, and news related to Survival Master. In the future I will be posting more on the testing phase, our game dev, tutorials, and interviews with the team members. If you would like to subscribe via RSS to these posts, there is a handy button on our blog site to do so.
Second, we have a couple of fun ways to keep up-to-date with us. If you use Facebook then I would recommend becoming a fan of Survival Master. Or, if you're part of the Twitter community then you can find us at Survivalmaster. With these, I use them to quickly post when there's a blog update, meeting, or something new added to our Flickr or YouTube.
Speaking of Flickr and YouTube, I have big plans for each. I have already gotten a start on our Flickr by adding artwork and screen shots from the game, and I hope that we can get more photos of the team uploaded as we have some of our face-to-face meetings this year. For YouTube, I would like to start adding videos of gameplay, entertaining bugs we come across, and also developer diaries (workflow and tutorials on different aspects of working on this project).
Lastly, don't forget to check out our website for news articles, media, conference schedules, and playable builds of Survival Master.
Thanks,
Cecilia Mason
